A Map for the Deep-Sea Diver: How We View These Specialties
At Orange Oasis Healing, we don’t treat symptoms in isolation; we partner with people navigating complex worlds. The descriptions below are brief entry points into how my clinical approach—grounded in the Black radical, prophetic tradition, somatic wisdom, and scholarly rigor—addresses these specific areas of the human experience.
While these categories help us organize our expertise, they are not meant to box you in. In our work, we recognize that your history, your identity, and your struggles are often interconnected. These blurbs are simply the beginning of a larger, collaborative testimony we will build together. If your experience spans multiple areas or doesn’t seem to fit a standard definition, you are exactly where you need to be. We map the territory together.
Pillar I: Somatic Sanctuary
Trauma and PTSD. In treating Trauma and PTSD, we use sandplay and somatic focusing to discharge survival energy that talk therapy often can’t reach. We move at the pace of your nervous system, ensuring that the “Deep-Sea Diving” we do stays within your window of tolerance. Our goal is to move you from a state of constant surveillance to a state of prophetic peace.
Anger Management. In this sanctuary, Anger Management is about reclaiming the prophetic grief that often sits beneath our rage. We look at how systemic harm and interpersonal boundary-crossing fuel your fire, using somatic focusing to discharge that survival energy safely. Our goal is to transform volatile energy into a regulated tool for your own protection and advocacy.
Anxiety or Fears. When navigating Anxiety or Fears, we use sandplay and bibliotherapy to externalize the internal storms that keep you stuck. As a scholar-practitioner, I help you deconstruct the carceral narratives that fuel your hyper-vigilance. We work together to find a “felt sense” of safety that allows you to breathe in a world that often feels breathless.
Stress. For the activists and scholars on the front lines, Stress is often a rational response to an irrational world. We use somatic focusing and regulated resistance tools to help you keep your soul intact while you navigate high-pressure systems. Our work is to ensure that your “Deep-Sea Diving” in the world doesn’t lead to burnout at home.
Thinking Disorder. Integrating my research in carceral epidemiology and TBI recovery, I provide specialized support for navigating a Thinking Disorder. We use somatic cues and narrative tools to help you find clarity and cognitive reclamation when the mind feels fragmented. This is a high-capacity sanctuary where your intelligence is respected as we map your mental geography together.
Pillar III: Radical Addiction & Recovery
Gambling. As an addictions clinician (LCADC), I provide non-moralistic support for Gambling through a harm-reduction lens. We investigate the behavioral cycles and neuro-chemical “hits” that fuel process addictions without the weight of carceral shame. Our goal is to help you reclaim your financial and emotional life through a direct, plain-spoken partnership.
Sexual Addiction. e address Sexual Addiction with clinical depth and a fundamental rejection of shame-based religious or carceral models. As an addictions specialist, I help you understand the behavioral cycles you’ve used to survive, while building new pathways for intimacy and self-regulation. We focus on the “why” behind the behavior to help you reclaim your sexual and emotional agency.
Substance Use. My approach to Substance Use is rooted in radical harm reduction and a fundamental rejection of carceral, shame-based recovery models. As a licensed clinician (LCADC) with lived experience, I prioritize your autonomy and safety as we navigate the cycles of dependency without the weight of moralistic judgment. We focus on building a sustainable oasis that honors your survival while creating pathways for genuine reclamation and self-governance.
Pillar IV: Relational Liberation
Relationship and Marriage Counseling. My approach to Life Coaching is grounded in the strategic alignment of your daily habits with your long-term liberation goals. As a Professor at Columbia, I help high-capacity individuals bridge the gap between their intellectual potential and their somatic reality. We map your future not through “hustle culture,” but through the rhythm of regulated resistance.
LGBT Issues. I provide a specialized sanctuary for LGBT Issues, specifically focusing on the intersectional liberation of Black, Queer, and Trans/Non-binary individuals. As a transmasculine clinician, I don’t require you to explain your identity; instead, we dive straight into the work of unmasking and reclamation. We move beyond “affirming” to actively building a life that celebrates your queer and trans excellence.
Codependency. In our work on Codependency, we investigate the attachment wounds and systemic pressures that make “self-sacrifice” feel like survival. We use relational liberation tools to help you establish boundaries that protect your spirit while maintaining connection. Our goal is to move you from reactive caretaking to proactive, autonomous partnership.
Divorce. Navigating a Divorce is a profound “before and after” moment that requires both legal clarity and emotional sanctuary. We use this transition as a site of reclamation, helping you map out your new geography as an autonomous individual. Whether you are seeking to co-parent effectively or find your own voice again, we work to ensure this ending is a holy beginning.
Domestic Abuse or Violence. For those surviving Domestic Abuse or Violence, our first priority is the establishment of a tangible and somatic sense of safety. We move with extreme care, utilizing anti-carceral safety planning and trauma-informed support to help you reclaim your agency. This is a non-judgmental sanctuary where your protection and your testimony are held as sacred.
Emotional Abuse Therapy. My Emotional Abuse Therapy focuses on deconstructing the “gaslighting” and mental surveillance that erode your sense of self. We use somatic cues to help you learn to trust your own “felt sense” again after it has been systematically undermined. Our work is to help you silence the voice of the abuser and amplify the voice of your own truth.
Pillar V: Neuro-Liberation
ADHD. I approach ADHD through a lens of neuro-liberation, helping you move beyond the “head trash” of executive dysfunction and toward radical unmasking. We don’t try to force your brain into a neurotypical box; we build an oasis that honors your non-linear processing. By integrating somatic cues, we help you find a rhythm that serves your autonomy rather than your productivity.
Autism. My approach to Autism is deeply personal and neuro-affirming, focusing on the reclamation of self after a lifetime of masking. We create a sensory-safe environment where your unique cognitive geography is celebrated rather than pathologized. Together, we navigate the “unmasking” process to ensure your social and professional lives align with your authentic needs.
TBI. Navigating a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) requires a specialized somatic approach that honors the profound “before and after” shift in your cognitive and emotional geography. Using lived experience and neuro-affirming tools, I partner with you to reclaim your narrative and develop adaptive strategies that fit your brain’s unique post-injury landscape. We focus on cognitive reclamation and somatic regulation to ensure you are no longer defined solely by your injury, but by your evolving autonomy.
Foundational Support & Transitions
Depression. When navigating the “deep end” of Depression, we use somatic focusing to find the small, flickering pilot light of your own testimony. As a clinician who understands the weight of systemic harm, I don’t just “fix” your mood; I partner with you to witness the history that brought you here. Together, we move toward a reclamation of hope that is grounded in reality, not platitudes.
Body Image. We address Body Image by dismantling the colonial and carceral standards that tell us our bodies are “wrong” or “unruly.” Using liberation theology and somatic work, we help you reclaim your physical form as a site of sanctuary and power. Our work is to move you from self-surveillance to a state of embodied autonomy.
Christian Counseling. This is Christian Counseling grounded in liberation theology and the Black prophetic tradition, specifically for those harmed by institutional religion. We use bibliotherapy and the works of Howard Thurman to reclaim the “Word” as a tool for your freedom. This is a space for spiritual seekers to deconstruct oppressive theology and find a faith that actually breathes.
Career Counseling. Specifically for activists, scholars, and “Deep-Sea Divers,” my version of Career Counseling focuses on navigating institutional burnout and academic “head trash.” We use your 2026 liberation goals to determine if your current work aligns with your prophetic calling. I help you build a professional life that sustains your soul rather than just your bank account.
Forgiveness. Within the Black prophetic tradition, Forgiveness is a tool for the internal liberation of the survivor, not an obligation to the harmer. We explore how to release the “head trash” of past trauma so it no longer dictates your future autonomy. In this practice, we view the choice to forgive as a radical act of self-reclamation.
Life Coaching.
